Maximum height of wall-mounted extractor hood

Hello All,

My fitter is asking me how high I want the extractor hood. It's a Neff D79ML62N0B and will sit above a 90cm induction hob.

I know the minimum height but what would be the maximum height before efficiency starts to be affected?

Thanks you!

The ideal height is two inches above the top of your head. Then you will not bang it while you are cooking.

Get the widest hood you can find, so that it catches steam and fumes that drift slightly sideways. It must be an extractor. Recirculating hoods are available and make an attractive kitchen ornament, but serve no other purpose.

Thanks. So you don't think that the extraction capability will be compromised by putting it at e.g. 1000mm above the countertop?

if you're a six-footer, I think that's the best height for it. That's where mine is.

A lot of people grumble about their hoods being too low, and banging their heads on them.
