DH will be working in his messy office, DS can put logs on the fire instead of lying on his bed texting his mates, should I be cooking, ironing or what?
What would put you off if you were looking round a house in the dark?

Make it look cosy, warm and inviting. If you have outdoor lighting, light it. If people can be out (DH & DS go for a car ride?) than the better.

I hate looking around in rooms that people are sat in, you seem to focus on them and not the house.

As a seller I always show thrm through the house from bottom to top them leave them upstairs alone and for them to work their way back down and find me

As many people out of the house as possible.

I hate it when the family are sitting watching TV or eating in the kitchen. You feel like you're intruding on their lives and spend the time feeling awkward and desperate to leave the house, rather than really stopping to look at the house itself.

Won't it be staged if I put the lamps on, light the fire & then go out?
I think I'd feel awkward if I was looking round & the family were there but 7pm?

I agree, put the lights on and make it look cosy. Is there anywhere for them to park? When I sold our last house I moved my own car from the spot infront of the house in the hope they'd just park up and not think about the parking. If you see what I mean.

The EA has just emailed me to say the same thing Green.
I think we'll just all go out for half an hour.
Thanks for the comments, any advice is welcome.

You're trying to show the house in the best possible way.

If it's dark outside, (anyone) wants to get inside a warm cosy house, not a bright light, cold and heartless house.

Just think if your friends were to be coming around for a chat that night, you would have it warm and inviting, same goes for prospect buyers
