Im in the process of getting quotes for a building survey on a house we are buying. The banks valuation came back with reccomendations to check the chimney stack and wall ties. I was expecting to have to get specialists to do this but one company have said they can do this in the price. Another seemed very hesitant on checking wall ties with a vendor living there. What is normal to expect? And how do they check a roof, chimney stack and flashings without getting up on the roof? I dont want to spend the extra money for them to just say it needs inspecting by a specialist anyway. Or do I belt and braces with a chimney and book both a full survey and roofing expert?
