Down lights in kitchen not working

Can anyone tell me why 3 of my 6 down lighters in the kitchen won't work? I assumed the bulbs had blown so replaced them but they still don't work. Then I tried different bulbs and they worked for a week so thought maybe I'd got duff replacement bulbs then they stopped again. The bulbs are the ones with little prongs that stick into the fitting and then I faff about for ages trying clip bulb back in place!
It's always the same 3 that pack up.
What I know about electrics could be written on a stamp so accept an electrician maybe my best solution but just wondered if there's an obvious / simple solution that I've missed?!!

Trying to help.
These lights are often low voltage so there will be a transformer to reduce the voltage. So you could have a problem with the transformer.
If the down lighters are built in to a false ceiling the transformer could be small but can be accessed if you take one light unit out.
Hope that gives you some clues.

Do make sure you switch off the power.

same problem here, it was the transformers, electrician sorted it out quite easily and surprisingly cheaply.
