Problems with new doors, supplier not playing ball, what can we do?

We have ended up in a tricky position with the supplier of our new doors, they were never fitted properly and due to issues our main contractor was having with them (won't bore you with the details) we ended up paying them the final payment to get them to come back and fix the problem.

They came back and identified what the issues were but since then we have not been able to get them to come back despite numerous calls and emails.

They were due to come last Friday and although my husband spoke to them at lunchtime when they assured us they were coming, they did not turn up and did not even call us to apologise.

We have spent £14,000 on windows and doors with them, one set we can not open as they will not always lock properly and I have had to leave the house on numerous occasions with them unlocked, obviously not a good situation.

We have been trying to get them back since August, so I now feel it's time to take things further.

Does anyone know what options we have open to us? I will probably contact a solicitor, but I wanted to know if there is anyone else I can get advice from?

CAB have good web advice on making claims via courts but yes, you will ultimately need a solicitir as the value of your goods is over £10,000. Usually, this would not count as a small claims court claim.

Have you done the usual, threatwned themwith tradibg standards/ court/ left really bad reviews etc?

Only today told them if they do not come back to us with a date for next week we will be talking to our solicitor.

I have been looking at the citizens advice website, if I don't get any joy by Friday I will contact them and the trading standards.

It's rather depressing as I think it could all be resolved with one visit, it's not like the whole doors need to be replaced.

I really don't understand how/why people work like this, it must be causing them a real headache, we've sent them 26 emails so far but they hardly ever respond to us and although we have call them unprofessional we had never been rude or threatening in any way.

Makes you loose trust in small companies, which is really sad. We are self employed and wouldn't dream of treating anyone like this.
