We had one growing up; family with 4 females, a godsend till it broke down.

It had a small fountain in the middle od the pan part so it jetted up at you and cleaned you.

All the ones I've seen so far have a tap - how the jeff is it supposed to reach your undercarriage?

I'm another fan of the bidet and didn't realise people recoiled in horror from them until I joined Mumsnet Grin. People seem to be weirdly precious about having a piece of bathroom equipment that you wash your bottom in, whereas having a piece of bathroom equipment that you actually shit in is not seen to be controversial Confused.

If I had a bidet I'd shower less frequently in the cooler months and my skin would be nicer and less dried out as a result, I'm sure.

The shower attachment thing by the loo is standard in Finland. I did look at it Hmm the first time though.

Why did they go out of fashion? They're a relic of the 80s.

I inspect new houses for work and I've never seen a bidet in one.

We took ours out, they were only used for shampooing guinea pigs
