Tumble dryer vent hose

Quick question: can a hole for the vent hose be cut lower down in the wall than the height of the dryer itself?

We have a stacked washing machine and dryer. Currently the hose goes out of the window to vent. We can't cut a hole in the wall in the place you would want to because the water pipes run down it and it isn't wide enough to accommodate a vent as well. Is there any reason why we couldn't cut the hole lower down, at the back of the washing machine, instead?

yes it can

no there isn't

If your machine also has a side vent, it may be easier to attach the hose there, and lead it out behind the adjacent cabinet, or under the sink or something. My Bosch has both a side and a back hole, you close off the one you don't want. A hose will fit under most modern kitchen units that have legs.

If the hole on the wall is directly behind the machine, it can be difficult to line up the hole so that excess hose pushes neatly away and does not stop the machine pushing tight against the wall.

Thank you! Logically I didn't think it should matter. I think the side vent is on the wrong side for the location of our dryer, sadly.
