skip company broke my gate!

during it's removal the skip lorry driver managed to break one half of my metal gate, its now bent, buckled and beyond repair. it's not a shop bought thing either so not replaceable or even repairable. It's bespoke, custom made. I'm soooo angry Sad

builders have been arranging skips and are in contact with company. they want to know what sort of compensation I want. I've no idea!

any wise thoughts?

Get a quote for a like for like bespoke one and take into consideration how old and what state yours was in before? They will have insurance for this sort of thing I imagine.

Send a photo of what it should look like to artisan blacksmiths - they might well be able to repair it. Get 3 quotes and insist the skip co pays up.

Providing your gate was in fair condition and in full working order its age is irrelevant as it still costs the same to replace a working gate however old it was.

Tell your builders you're waiting on a quote for a like for like replacement and contact either the company that made the gate or a similar manufacturer.

without outing myself I am the artisan who made the gate, but no longer make due to dcs. would it be acceptable to produce my own quote from my little company?

it was over 10 years old, so not in mint condition, and one of my first creations, so not really my finest work......

Yes, provide a quote yourself but also get a second quote.
