Have you? Would you?

Seriously considering it as an option (options limited due to funds!). It has a 10 year stain guarantee but with kids and cats will it look awful?!

We have this....you can indeed spill red wine or bleach on it without staining but it always looks dirty especially where it gets heavy traffic. It is going as soon as I can afford it.

look at "heather twist" poly.

It has a mottled colour that does not look dirty, and the pile is more resilient as it is crimped.

You can still clean it violently.

I can only see dark colours for that Pigletjohn?

So is that the deal with these new carpets - that they only resist certain stains (ie wine but not feet)?

How old is your carpet Overthebliddyhill? The guy in the shop said carpets made in the last few years are better than ever but not sure if it's a hard sell? I don't want it to look grubby from feet...

they all resist stains and cleaning, but if it is a plain colour without texture, pattern or mottling, you can see where traffic has pressed the pile down.

The "twist" is more sturdy than a cut or looped pile would be.

you can get Heather is a sort of "weak tea" colour but it is always mottled.

illustrations I don't know anything about that supplier in particular

overthebliddyhill · 30/09/2014 22:10

It's just 5 years old. We were told the same when we bought it.

Thanks pigletjohn

Over, does yours look dirty because the pile has flattened or has it gone grey from feet walking on it,

I think it is mainly because the pile has flattened. It looks fine just after I have used the carpet shampooer on it but very quickly looks bad again.

velvetsy · 01/10/2014 20:44

Sorry for all the questions! Did it have a wear guarantee or just a stain guarantee?

I have an oldish man-made carpet at the mo and it seems to be a dirt magnet. I've tried shampooing it and it's worse very quickly afterwards, I think it's something to do with the shampoo too & not just the carpet
