Replacing internal door. Non standard size.

I have a large cupboard that currently has no door following redecoration.

It doesn't appear to be a standard size so replacing it is going to be beyond my DIY skills. Also, the previous door was folding so there isn't a door closing mechanism in place at the moment.

Not sure if I need a joiner or a carpenter or indeed what the difference is to make and hang a new door.

Please can anyone advise?

If the door opening were smaller than a conventional door perhaps buying a BI/folding doors would be the answer. It would mean you have two doors you could trim to fit. A small rail is used to guide the doors at the top; you need to drill the door top and bottom for the hanging pins. Also a small metal receiver for the bottom of the door has to be fitted for the bottom of the door to swivel on. A lot of these doors come with hinges that sit on the surface of the door edge rather than rebated, so no skill needed there . It also means you have four surfaces you could trim to the size needed.

The door I removed was by-folding so that would work. I intended to paint it up but it wasn't in good enough condition.

I'm reasonably handy so could plane it down to fit if i could find a door that would almost fit. I might have another google.

I bought a really nice bi foldal door from Homebase it was under a hundred pounds and was solid wood. When hanging it , it's crucial you drill the pin slots at exactly the distance on the side profile the door, stated on the instruction sheet or door will clip frame or hang awkwardly. Failing that if you don't have many tools get some ply cut at B&Q or homebase and make a door just the ply or skin of two pieces with some baton for a frame

What size is it?

Are your other doors flat, panelled, or what?
