Extra tall step ladders?

Can anyone recommend where I can buy some extra tall, safe, sturdy step ladders for working at heights of around 4 to 6 metres?

I need something where I can safely balance on the top steps and do everything from painting/decorating to shrub and tree trimming and external house wall maintenance.

My current step ladders are much too short and I'm sick of teetering on the top rung, with a power drill in hand, hoping I don't go splat! No one to hold the ladders - so they need to be very safe and reliable for solo working.

Needs to be a company that can deliver to home within a reasonable time slot too, as I work f/t. Anyone recommend an ideal brand/make?

my neighbour has one for pruning. It is very wide at the bottom to give it stability. You can also get a sort of trestle which attaches to an ordinary ladder, to make it free-standing, the same shape as a stepladder.

I have never wanted to buy one. There is a trade body, IIRC the "ELMA" English Ladder-Makers Association. If you can track them down they will have a list of makers you can approach, who will probably have lists of local retailers. I imagine you will have to order it.

It will be quite heavy, so consider if you can hump it around, erect and fold it.

There are several B.S. grades of ladder, of which DIY is the worst and Scaffolders is the best. The better ones are more rigid and heavy. Light ones flex and bounce.
