mouldy ceiling

We have an en suite bathroom in our bedroom. The extractor fan was really noisy so we stupidly turned it off. Now we have a problem with mould on our bedroom ceiling - it looks like little grease spots all over the ceiling and walls but there are black spots on our blind too. The room is north facing with a lot of trees by the window so it's difficult to dry it out.

If anyone's got any tips for getting rid I'd be grateful. We are going to put the extractor fan on and not dry clothes in the bedroom but is it possible to get rid of the mouldy bits on the walls? It's a rented property so we can't do anything like a repaint ourselves.

I suppose it depends what is on your ceiling but I had this on our bathroom ceiling, it's just a painted plaster ceiling, I washed it with a bleach spray and it's gone and never come back!

Yeah, bleach spray or proper mould remover spray (HG do one) - it will be fine.

I used mould remover - be warned it's potent stuff! Once it was off, I gave ceiling a good clean. I then painted it with mould resistant paint. It was only about £10 and no mould in 4 years! And there's no extractor fan either

Our extractor broke and I used HG mould remover, but it came back, despite fitting a new (but not very good) fan. I have wiped it off again- came off easily second time. I have painted with mould resistant paint and have my fingers crossed!

it will need repainting after cleaning. The blind has probably had it.

ask your landlord to check the fan - they have a limited life so if it is that noisy it may need replacing. If you don't use it, the problem will be back.
