Survey on property before buying, does the mortgage provide send the surveyor?

Hi

It's ages since we moved house so I've forgotten. Once we have put in an offer our mortgage provider has to send the surveyor, yes?

They will get a valuation survey done, yes, at their own snail like pace... If you want a full building survey you'd be better to arrange that yourself - that way if anything comes up the mortgage provider won't add conditions to the mortgage based on it (unless it popped up in the valuation survey).

We're buying a victorian terrace so we're having both done - small outlay against towering cost of a house.
