Wood burning stoves

How much does a wood burning stove cost to install - heating a lounge only, not a boiler - and can you get them second hand??

Any advice much appreciated.

I only get mine swept once a year and sweep has never suggested it needs doing more. I know the greener the wood the more deposits may stick to the chimney.

Our sweep recommended twice a year not sure if it's necessary or just good business

Looks like I need mine doing more often.

How often does my chimney need sweeping?
The sweeping frequencies below are for guidance. Frequency will depend on a number of factors including: Type of fuel, appliance used, duration of use, moisture content of wood fuel, type of chimney. Your Guild sweep will be able to advise on sweeping frequency during the appointment, the sweeping frequencies below are for guidance.

Smokeless fuel: At least once a year
Wood: Quarterly when in use
Bituminous coal: Quarterly when in use
Oil: Once a year
Gas: Once a year

That helps loads we use seasoned wood but it's on all the time. Had it swept in Sept before winter and sweep recommended a January visit as well

We used kiln dried wood and maybe only use it 2 or 3 times a week so maybe once a year is ok for us.
