I need advice on choosing laminate flirting for a loft conversion

Hello, as others who are having an extension done will identify with,I ve reached the next decision point. What to put on our new floor. Realistically,we can t afford solid wood so it s looking like laminate.
Any recommendations for brands, colours and what is a reasonable price for laminate + underlay? I don' t want too go for cheapest, I 'd like decent quality but don t want to pay over the odds. Thanks.

Just bumping this- or does everyone hate laminate?

Maybe you'd get more replies if the title said laminate flooring, because I don't know what laminate flirting is Grin

Oops oh dear! Maybe I'll rephrase that! Thanks

Well that's good to know! Do they operate from a telephone box?!

For a loft I would go for carpet purely for noise reasons. Our loft has no carpet down at the moment and it is LOUD :)

I hate carpet normally but I had to put it in the loft - it's so noisy otherwise. You could put thick underlay down, but it's still going to sound like a hers of elephants up there. We went for enormously thick underlay and cheap carpet which we'll replace when not skint!

Herd. Ahem.

Thanks, that's something to think about. I am a bit mean, it'll be the kids below us and I think it's payback for all the noise we've had to endure from them! Also, my mum (who died when I was in my 20s) bought several berber rugs when we lived in North Africa, and i am looking forward to finally doing one of them justice as a centre piece to the room.
