Help me style a gothic bed

We have something much like this in pewter.

We're (hopefully soon) moving into a Victorian property and haven't decided on our bedroom look. The bed was black when I bought it, maybe put it back to that? Or maybe white? Or gold?

And what of linens and wall colours?

The main issue is DP says he would have a hard time sleeping if the walls were [the more fiery shades of] red (& I probably don't want this either). But the more plummy shades seem to be fine. And in general, I've been pondering the concept of "Victorian whore's bedroom".

Everything else (the wall colours, etc) can wait a bit, but by the time I set the bed up in the new home, it'll have to have its new colour painted on, so that's a decision we have to make soonish.

Thanking you in advance, ta.

Black or white would look best I think. Personally I would go black and then very very dark colours on the wall and embrace the gothic. There's a designer who does lots of Downpipe and dark purples and blues with touches of gold. I'll go have a google.

Well, that "book" wallpaper is too much like our real lives... Grin

Trawling now for some wallpaper or stencil that has lots of scrolly stuff going on.

Somehow, I've got Pugin's treatment for the Palace of Westminster in mind. Well, it's Victorian and I'm sure there are a lot of whores on the premises (both then and now - fnaar fnaar).
