Tiles for chimney

Chimney breast with hob inside. Are metro old hat? Are bevelled edge harder to clean? Will white look dirty?
I'm going for a simple minimalist look but am stumped for inspiration.
Any ideas?

T&G instead ?!

I've got T&G elsewhere but need tiles for the inside bit as a splash back .

avoid white grout close to a hob.

www.toppstiles.co.uk/tprod40504/section1320/Chic-Craquele-Grey.html what about something like this?

Coloured glass? Not tiles - just a single piece. My friends have a mulberry coloured glass splash back, looks amazing against sage units and wooden work tops

I love coloured glass but it's a very traditional kitchen in a period house so I think tiles.
The tops tiles have come; 2 shades of grey and an off white. DH thinks a combination of all 3, the builder thinks 2 and I think one plain colour. What looks better?
