What does an indemnity policy cover you for?

Moved 6mths ago and the previous owners had no paperwork over the rear bi-fiold door fitting so took out indemity insurance... but what does it cover?
According to the glazier today the company who fitted it would be closed down by trading standards as its dangerous. Need to keep the kids away from it and sort it ASAP.

If you read the policy it will tell you! It would normally cover a claim for a defective product / damage in the absence of a guarantee. It should all be set out within the policy (which you should have been provided with upon completion).

Yes I do intend to have a good read of the details. DH has all that and he's at work.
Was just wondering if anyone knew roughly off hand that could help me before we spend ages on the small print.
