I'm thinking of doing a stair runner, are they a nightmare to clean?
Also, our landing is an engineered wood floor that stops about 1.5 inches short of the top step, so there's a metal strip then about an 1.5 inches of carpet before it drops down as the top stair riser.
How would I get round this if I did a runner? It's ugly enough as it is that the wood floor of the landing does go right to the end of the top step, but I can't see how it would work at all with a carpet that doesn't go across the full width.
