I am thinking of this beauty

It is actually very convenient to the DDs school.

I will have to redecorate though.

Hmm very nice, although parts of it look like a hotel lobby. Not sure I would have the self-confidence to use the mirrored bathroom!

UriGeller · 05/09/2014 15:51

Its magnificent but it'd be a "no thanks" from me because it has about 30 bzillion spotlights. I hate spotlights.

WestEast · 05/09/2014 15:59

If have to say no. Just think of the council tax on that place.

financialwizard · 05/09/2014 16:01

Yeurgh

ghostisonthecanvas · 05/09/2014 16:03

Well I was thinking of putting an offer in til I saw the bathroom. That would reflect too much information.

Mintyy · 05/09/2014 16:06

I only like the pool.

And why no pictures of the garden?

£46.5m - its just totally random. What does it have that a common or garden £30 or £40m St John's Wood mansion doesn't have, I wonder?

Do you think they thought, well it could be worth £40m and we'll just stick another 6.5m on in case no one notices!

Pootles2010 · 05/09/2014 16:08

I really dislike it! As others have said it looks like a hotel - an American one.

NickNackNooToYou · 05/09/2014 16:22

It'd be a nightmare to clean...

Onetwothreeoops · 05/09/2014 16:23

WestEast I might be wrong with this but you don't have to worry about the council tax as it would only be £2640.96 per annum as far as I can tell from Camden councils website. This highlights the flaw in current council tax rates rather nicely (if I'm correct obviously)

WestEast · 05/09/2014 16:24

In that case I'll take it Grin

One of the bedrooms on the second floor doesn't have any access to a bathroom whatsoever. If they needed a wee in the night the occupants would have to descend two flights of stairs to use the downstairs loo. That's a deal breaker for me I'm afraid.

FreckledLeopard · 05/09/2014 16:30

Yuck. It is far too vulgar and I don't like all the black. No thanks.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 05/09/2014 16:36

I know, there is just so much wrong with it isn't there!

This whole advertising of expensive houses as Ambassadors' Residences is odd too - are there really countries out there spending this much on the residence? And surely that is quite a finite market, I mean there are only so many Ambassadors or High Commissioners to the UK?

Mintyy you can't get much in SJW for 30 mil these days

Fairylea · 05/09/2014 16:40

faints at cost

Hassled · 05/09/2014 16:44

The painting in picture 13 - do you reckon it's, like, famous? Done by someone we'd know?

beccajoh · 05/09/2014 16:48

That painting is the one of Kate Winslet from Titanic.

ShakeYourTailFeathers · 05/09/2014 16:57

oh that mirrored bathroom is ghastly. I think most of it's lovely though.

Is council tax still bonkers (we moved away from UK)?

I remember about 15 yrs ago I paid more for my teeny flat in surrey than my colleague did on his pile in Holland Park. Angry

specialsubject · 05/09/2014 21:33

loving the painting in pic 13 (falls off sofa laughing...)

BTW max council tax in Hampstead is about £2.5k per annum so not an issue.

shall we all team up: about £20 each split between all of mumsnet?

Apatite1 · 05/09/2014 22:31

The council tax in London is a joke, it really is max £2.5k in hampstead! We need a far more progressive council tax system.

Woopsiedaisy · 05/09/2014 23:00

So much money, so little taste !!

wowfudge · 06/09/2014 08:14

I don't think our Ikea furniture would fit in. On that basis, we'd have to completing re-furnish and that would be the sticking point for me. Wink

wowfudge · 06/09/2014 08:14

Completing = completely

PigletJohn · 06/09/2014 10:00

It's most frightfully vulgar.

They must have used a film set designer.

Who lived there?
