Is there anywhere I can buy this inexpensively on the High Street

Hi, I have bought the Fablon version from Wilko recently. It is a bit of a faff to put on but is very effective for proving privacy and cheap as chips.

I used the Milky glass version I think.

But if you want something more interesting (and are happy to buy online), purlfrost are great, we got the fanlight covered in a bespoke one which was brilliant.

How much was the Purlfrost bespoke one LBOCS? I have a massive awkward window i need to do something with and have been looking at Purlfrost.

We had a clear glass panel in the back door and I looked everywhere for some. Eventually found it at my local garden centre. It was plastic that you wetted and it stuck to the window. Brilliant stuff

I bought some last week from Adobe Window Films. Sticks well but I'd be a bit wary in future about cut-out patterns as they were a challenge to get right. There's another thread which suggests other online companies but I can't seem to find it right now.

Tintins, our window wasn't big (105x40cm) and we had our house number and road on it with some detailing around the edges. It was thirty quid, which I thought was a bit of a bargain - and having put it up, looks 4x the price.

TinTinsSexySister · 05/09/2014 23:22

Thanks LBOCS, very encouraging! Grin

I'm currently getting some misted glazing units replaced. My installer (he is family member of someone I deal with, don't know if that affected the price) is changing two small units, and a medium sized obscure unit in the bathroom, for less than £100 the lot, materials and labour.

So it might be asking around for a local independent to see what a new frosted unit would cost. I suppose now the novelty has worn off, it's equivalent to a glazier replacing a broken window.

DG units are always going wrong, so there are plenty of local independents who specialise in changing them. My guy must be making a profit, so I deduce that the DG units themselves, which are made to order, must be very cheap.

I think they probably are PJ - the entire fanlight for above my door (which was a double glazed unit with a slimline UPVC frame) was only £74. I went straight to a local manufacturer for it.

I just got a roll of the Fablon stuff from home base - looks great

VirtualPointyHat · 06/09/2014 20:44

Thanks all, I ordered some from Wilkos so will see how that goes
