Price of Gas?

We're currently trying to sell a house and it has been empty since November. We timed the gas to come on for about an hour in the morning and hour and a half-ish at night during the winter to keep the house warm and pipes to not burst. My DH has just told me we've had a bill for £700!!!!! After picking myself off the floor I had to ask is this normal to have such a high bill. FOR A HOUSE WHERE NOBODY LIVES ie EMPTY! Maybe this is perfectly normal. We have oil at the moment and deco don't spend that much. With actual people living in the house.

I think that would be estimated as they have not had access to read the actual meter readings. That amoutn sounds like an estimated bill over the winter if someone was living there I think. Take meter readings and submit them to company they should recalculate and hopefully won't be anywhere near that amount.

My husband took the reading. I'm assuming he's wrong. I'm hoping he's wrong!
