Next sofas?

We are currently looking at sofas and I really like the Michigan range.

We have done a bit of research online and some of the reviews are pretty bad, I also looked at the reviews of DFS and they were even worse but our old sofa was from there and was still in brilliant condition 10 years later.
What I am really wanting is to know the quality ok or am I being sold by the pretty showroom?

Watching this as considering the same purchase :)

We have the Garda sofas from Next and the back cushions have gone all lumpy and miss-shapen already, after 18 months. I will probably have to have them restuffed. They look lovely in our living room and we bought them because most sofas are too large for the room, which is long and narrow. I won't be buying sofas from Next again though.

If their sofas are as good as their wardrobes, I wouldn't bother if I were you. If you want a sofa, go to a furniture shop.

Don't buy DFS. I know someone that used to work there, and they are only designed to last the same amount of time as the interest free credit.
Go for quality. John Lewis, Habitat, multiyork. And get a natural fabric so it doesn't make you sweat when it's warm.

I've got a leather chesterfield-type sofa from DFS. It's about five years old and still as nice as when I bought it.

I can recommend John Lewis- we have been so impressed with ours and their customer service and after care is excellent.

We've had ours just a year and they're a little bit squeaky already... I can't see them lasting more than another year or two so I wouldn't buy again! The cushions have kept their shape etc.

Saying that though,my mum has had hers from there for about 8 years and they are like brand new so guessing the quality has gone down hill since she's had hers!

I have had some Next furniture ( not sofas) and the quality isn't great.

Our living room sofa was bought from Sofa Workshop, several years ago. It is lovely and good quality, but the service from Sofa Workshop was appalling. We ordered a sofa and 2 chairs in the October, and they came the following May! We were promised loads of delivery dates and given a load of lies. I would never buy from there again.

Our best sofa is from Furniture Village. It looks lovely and is really comgortable, despite being in our family room and getting loads of abuse from cats, teens, etc. Plus it was a reasonable price.

I've been happy with dfs and with the service. When the stitching came undone on my sofa they came and repaired it, long out of guarantee time
I don't buy on credit but it is looking good after 5 years

We have 2 next Burleigh (sp?) sofas which are really comfy. Had a next sofa before that too which was dirt cheap and did us 4 years before we upgraded. We found the customer service to be excellent (one sofa was too big for our cottage doors and the other was marked. Both swapped/resolved asap with no quibbles).

They're not luxury sofas and if I had money to burn I'd splash out but they're less than half the price of comparable sofas on sofa.com etc and we're really pleased with them. I'm not usually a Next customer for either home stuff or clothes but would happily buy sofas from them again.

Thanks everyone for the info,

We went in store today to have a final look and then order them as we had fallen in love with them.

But anyway to shorten the story the sofa could be delivered in 4 days but the feet not for 16 weeks and even then that's a guess as they didn't know when the feet will be in stock.
This made us very uncomfortable the fact our feet would perhaps not ever come.
Crazy surely feet are part of the sofa???

But any way it's now back to square one on sofa research so thank you for all your recommendations.
