New boiler

Hi, my dad is 68 and needs a new boiler. He is in receipt of state pension but still works as a taxi driver (not sure why as I am sure he doesn't earn anything). He owns his own house. Are there any grants out there to help home with the cost? He is single.

He has british gas cover and when it broke down they shut it all down, they quoted him£3800 (think a tank needed moving from upstairs also). We are in the north west.

Ay help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

British Gas will quote about double the going rate. There may of course be other work needed but that seems very high.

look on the gas safe site for local approved engineers and get some quotes. Also I think Moneysavingexpert have some hints on getting grants for this and insulation.
