House or school catchment

Moving for work with 2DC. Seen a few places we like but all seem to be in primary school catchments of struggling schools. What would you go for, better house/worse school or worse house/better school? I'm torn...

I'd go for better school & worse house. You can always do up a house but as a parent, there's not much you can do about the school.

Agree with above. We are doing that exact thing now. Whats that they say, ' 'you should have the worst house in the best street not the best house in the worst street.'

I agree. Are your children currently school age?

Eldest nearly primary school age. Problem is that there is a 3 tier school system (first, middle then high) in one area and a primary then secondary system in the other area. In the 3 tier system, you almost choose which high school you go to by which first school you choose.

In both areas, there is such a small amount of houses to choose from even before you consider the school catchment. We are also under pressure to move asap as currently in rental and landlord planning to sell up soon!
