If you paid for stuff to be moved into storage, stored for a few days then moved into new house, how much did it cost?

Not in the SE, so not extortionate prices but rough idea? How much?

Movers to come and take a 2 bedroom house worth of stuff (only beds from bedrooms, no wardrobes at all), take it into storage, then deliver it to new house a few days later.

quoted approx £400 per month for a 4 bed house but that was storage only for 3 months. The onward delivery was another £400.

Central Scotland. £250 for removal (small local company) £60 per week for storage unit and £250 for second removal so £560 altogether.

Moved about 3 miles.

I can't really help with cost but the problem is that the effort in packing it into a container is the same as though you were storing it for months.

We stored two container loads with these people for 6 months and it was under 1k

What about getting a quote from here. www.ukpods.co.uk/
They deliver the container, you pack it and they pick up and deliver it on the day you pick to your new place.

It is basically a double move, you pay for two separate teams (I did anyway) so they moved me out, stored it for 3 weeks then moved me back in.

It was Pickfords and they store it all in crates so there is less room than a normal removal van, so we needed 2 Blush

We moved from a 3 bed to a 4 and had garden stuff for the children like a slide which had to be packed.

I would have gone down the container pod route but we literally exchanged late on the Wednesday and moved out on the Friday so Pickfords came on the Thursday and back on the Friday.

It wasn't cheap because we had a lot of stuff.

I had this once with a move from York to Surrey... lovely local firm just stored the packed trucks safely for 2 days and then drove them down. Did not charge anything extra.

You may find a company willing to pack into storage crates or even a not-booked between days lorry (iyswim) and deliver a couple of days later without charging storage as such.

We paid about £400 for the storage because it had to go into crates then be taken off the lorry and put back on again.
