What does a project manager need to know?

DH and I have finally been given the keys to our new house. We haven't really got the time or the energy at the minute to over see everything due to our youngest heart surgery next week so on the advice and suggestion of family we've decided to hire a project manager.

I'll be calling 5 tomorrow for quotes etc, but what information do I need to give them for an estimated quote, and if we hire one what role do I play?

DH is busy working so it's down to me to make all the arrangements.

How long have they been doing the job (and not just as an assistant). How did they get into this line and what was their prior experience, training and education?

What contracts have they managed in the last 12 months. What was the contract value. What was the scope of work. On the third of these, what was the most complex problem, and how was it dealt with? How many projects do the attempt to manage at the same time? How do they manage several concurrently? How many hours per week would they dedicate to yours, and how does that correspond to their fee?

What is the address is the fifth, because you want to go and look at it.

Ahh thank you. They're really good questions to ask!
