Ideas for freestanding kitchen storage

We have recently moved into a new house and we have lost at least a third of the kitchen storage space that we had in our last place, so we need supplementary kitchen storage.

We're renting, so it has to be genuinely freestanding, and sturdy enough not to topple if grabbed by our cruising, soon to be walking 12 month old. Initial vague budget of up to £350ish but as we'll take it with us when we buy and move, we can invest a bit more if necessary. Needs to have some decent cupboard and / or shelving space for glassware, maybe some dry store cupboard goods, and cookbooks.

We have a space of 150 cm width x 215 cm height. We're considering a Welsh dresser but I'm not convinced that it will be the most efficient use of the space. I’d be very grateful for any ideas or inspiration!

We've got an old pine cupboard that came from a reclaim yard, we painted it and slightly rearranged the shelves to make it a larder (sort of like this). By adding extra narrow shelves and spice racks you can get masses of stuff in them. It weighs a ton, no danger of falling over.

You would have to like the shabby look!

I did fancy a 1950s style unit but really and truly they aren't as space efficient.
