Sad My beautiful black sink has splashes of white paint (possible gloss/Satine) have scrubbed, used white spirit etc is it totally ruined? The splashes are faded but it's definitely not black any more

This is the sink: www.diy.com/nav/rooms/kitchens/kitchen-sinks/composite_sinks/-specificproducttype-1_0_bowl_sinks/Franke-Sirius-SID611-Black-Single-Bowl-Sink-11777536?skuId=12288242

Anyone who can help? Calling Pigletjohn as he's the mastermind of all DIY

I'm not sure Pigletjohn would approve of a black sink for exactly this reason...stainless steel all the way Grin

We have had the same sink installed a few weeks ago and it looks great. Good luck, JazzAnn

I have a similar sink and it was lovely to begin with, but our water is hard and the sink always has white marks on it. Nothing shifts them so I keep a black basin in it now.

Hope you manage to remove the paint.

I presume it is some kind of reconstituted stone. Try a green nylon scourer. Don't use abrasive cleaners, including "cream" cleaners as you will take off or modify the gloss. Don't use a metal scraper. You can use your thumbnail if you want.

Meanwhile get a piggy bank, and when it is full, you can buy a stainless sink.

Yay PigletJohn! Grin

We have a black frankie sink as well as living in a hard water area. No help with getting the paint off but a tip I picked up which works with the white marks from the hard water is to put some vegetable oil on some kitchen towel and wipe over the sink.
Brings it up lovely and black again!
We don't use ours for washing up as have a dishwasher, so only have to do the vegetable oil thing every few weeks - don't know how long it would last if sink used for washing up.

JazzAnnNonMouse · 13/08/2014 08:28

We have a dishwasher too but still use it daily to wash veg/fruit/ hands, fill things with water etc

I have a dishwasher too and use my sink a lot, but the basin looks fine in it Grin - the oil is great for buffing up my stainless steel splashback though, nothing else makes it look as clean.
