Doing your own conveyancing....is it possible

Just that really....have accepted an offer on my house and had my offer accepted on another. I have appointed a solicitor for the purchase as I want to make sure all the searches etc are done but I'm thinking that it can't be as difficult to do the paperwork on a sale......am I bonkers to be thinking about doing it myself?

I'm a solicitor in a different area and I wouldn't consider it. Who do you sue if it goes horribly wrong?
