I am looking at the model 45 and can't work out how you start/stop it. Surely it needs a switch of some sort?

The instruction manual says "on-off control: wall switch".

We have an in-sink disposal, a different manufacturer, which operates from a wall switch. You push the veggie peelings, or whatever, down the hole, run water, and flip the switch. You can tell by the sound when the waste has passed thru to the drain. Then you turn the unit off, and turn the water off.

We had one in a holiday house recently. There was no switch but came with a plug that you inserted then twisted which generated the mechanism.

Our insinkerator has a push button which is installed on the bench top.

There are several models in the Insinkerator range and model 45 & 55 are the basic ones which require either a wall mounted switch or a batch feed /air switch which needs to be purchased seperately.

I would recommend model 65+ as a starting point. It comes with an air switch, has a more powerful motor, longer warranty and larger capacity.

Thank you all!
