Please could you post a photo of the top step, where the stair meets the landing?

I love the idea but can't work out what happens at the top!

That would be great if somebody could -I've got stuck on the same thing!

Will try to post later. Usually the runner starts on the vertical just under the top lip. It is stapled in place. If you have carpet on landing it is fitted over the top lip of the stairs.

Thanks Muscat! We are thinking of fitting the runner ourselves and getting landing carpeted at a later date, so that would work!

If it's stapled, do they also use carpet strippers on each step? I don't really want stair rods.

Here is a pic of our stair runner - we do not have carpet on the landing though, just wooden flooring.

That's beautiful, audrey!

Was teh wooden floor done first, or the stair runner?

Here's ours. Old floors, five year old runner.

I'm having mine done soon - will post a pic them if you can wait a week or so!

audrey01 · 03/08/2014 20:51

All the woodwork was done first, I remember the carpet company was the last trade in the house.

MuscatBouschet · 03/08/2014 22:45

You don't need carpet rods. I think they look pretty old fashioned. They put the grippers everywhere...

Following….looking ATM & very interested, the you for the pics!

WastingMyYoungYears · 19/10/2014 19:02

MATB1, can you post a photo now?

I am having a wooden floor fitted on 1st and 2nd floor and want to sort out a stair runner later. I was told the stair nose that covers the join between wood and carpet gets fitted over the carpet. Sort of frustrates the order of things. Has anyone found a solution to this? Carpet will be last as whole house being painted and then wooden floor..Thank you for the photos. SO helpful.
