Building fitted wardrobes on exterior wall

Our master bedroom is in the loft conversion, it's a fairly big room and I would really love to put in fitted wardrobes which cover the whole end wall of the room. The wall is at the end so is full height for about 2 feet in the middle but slopes down on both sides (because it's in the roof). I have visions of a huge amount of storage space, a mixture of hanging rails, shelves and cupboards, and it will be fabulous, but DH isn't keen. He says because it's an external wall you shouldn't cover it like that, but I'm sure we could put in some ventilation. I think the real reason he isn't keen is that he thinks it is too big a job and he hasn't got time and can't be bothered, but I really want to do it.
Is he right about ventilation, and does anyone have any suggestions please? Smile

We've just ripped out built in wardrobes in the house we're doing up, both lots were on outside walls and had been there since the 1960s. Both walls were fine behind them. We're going to replace them with new ones.

Has your DH got any special reason to worry about condensation/damp etc? If not i'd say go for it

Thanks, I was pretty sure it should be fine. He thinks we don't need wardrobes in there, at the moment all our clothes are in the fitted wardrobes in the spare room and in DS room. In a few months though DS will move into the spare room and baby DD (currently in our room) will move into DS current room. So they will both need to use the wardrobes in their rooms, not so much now but in a few years, and we can't go into their rooms every morning to get our clothes! Also the extra storage space would be handy.

As children get older you seem to accumulate more stuff. You can never have enough storage. We have fitted wardrobes on outside walls - no problems at all. However, if the walls are damp, don't do it!
