Security screening for front door (video?)

We live in a townhouse and can't screen visitors without them seeing us approach the door. Does anyone have a system installed that they could recommend? Ideally wifi/bluetooth with video/camera.

What's wrong with the old fashioned approach of opening your front door?

Purple - for one I don't want to run down 2 flights of stairs only to tell a door to door salesman I'm not interested. I don't have time to do that. Keep up with the times :)

you don't have a doorphone? Would be cheaper and easier.

I found one that links to your home phone so you can answer from any room with a cordless, but I don't know if they are still available.

That's the word I'm looking for PigletJohn. What make is yours? I'd like one that doesn't have to be wired up.

I can't see the name, but I think the firm has closed down anyway. Mine is wired but has the facility to connect to the phone socket so you can talk through the home phones. It had a special approval for that. I thought it was very ingenious. If I come across the instructions I will look for the brand.

Have a look at Maplin's website, I saw some wireless videocams on there.
