Please can you tell me if having my kitchen cupboard handles like this would be annoying?

I really like the look when all handles on cupboards are horizontal (like how the dishwasher one is) but would it be really annoying to open vertically hinged cupboards with a horizontal handle in the centre bottom/top of the cupboard?

Handle is approx half the size of the cupboard width, possibly more.

Tia

My kitchen handles are all horizontal. Except for the dishwasher, all of the cupboards are vertically hinged. I really like the look of it and I have no problems with opening any of the cupboards, including the heavier integrated fridge / freezer doors.

Ours are like that and I've never had a problem.

I think the handles in the picture look great. They would not annoy me.

nice

I have horizontal handles - no problem.

Excellent, we're definitely going for it then. Kitchen's all in, just the handles to go, I've been scared to get the holes drilled as it's set in stone then. Very glad consensus is go for it Grin

As long as you have no narrow cupboards it will be lovely.

SunshineOutdoors · 30/07/2014 20:23

One narrow cupboard above the worktops and two in the corner underneath but we're getting the smaller size handles for those so it hopefully it will look in proportion iyswim. Did you mean aesthetically or practically that this would be an issue?

Aesthetically. If you can get scaled down handles I'm sure it will be fine.

SunshineOutdoors · 30/07/2014 20:31

Phew. Yes have deliberately pick a handle that c

comes in two sizes.

Bloody hell I'll try that again. I have deliberately picked a handle that comes in two sizes for that reason.

Yes we have a kitchen like that and never had a problem. Hadn't even crossed my mind tbh.

nemno · 30/07/2014 20:35

If they open against a wall then they won't open quite as far, the wall (or other surface at 90 deg) will hit the handle earlier IYSWIM.
