EA told me now is a holiday period till mid-Aug

Put our flat on market two weeks ago. We had around 10 viewings so far and seems promising but suddenly gone quiet this week. EA told me that we are in a hol period and people are away. Things should pick up again in mid-Aug. Is he BS-ing me or what?

No, we have found this too. Apparently things tend to really pick up in September. Good luck with your sale

We've taken ours off all the online portals for Aug as the market goes dead apparently. Ours goes live again on 1st September.

Lucky you getting 10 viewings in 2 weeks we had 3 in the first week then none for the other 5 wks.

thats slightly worrying. We plan to buy this house and our offer has been accepted subject to a quick sale on my side.

Ideally I prefer to take it off market if its that quiet but in my situation, I might have to leave it on the market as I don't want to lose the house, vendor may put his back on market if he sees no progress on my side.

Always dead in August - so many families are away and most don't want to start "just before" they go away. ES not making it up.

There are fewer buyers, but not impossible, we put in an offer on our house on 1st August last year.

Schools are on holiday. Most people are away, can't be arsed looking, too tired at night to view after having kids all day etc, etc, etc. of course it's dead. It's the same in Scotland throughout July. I don't expect it to get better here for st least another 3 weeks.

I'd never recommend anyone market their home during the holidays or just before. Best to wait.

Just finished working with an EA and can say for sure that August is always dead unfortunately.
