Changing fixed rate period before the mortgage starts

We got the offer a few weeks ago, but the mortgage won't start for another month, which is when I anticipate we will complete.

Is it possible to change the period we have fixed for at this stage, or would it mean going through the whole application process again?

Whole process again

Oh, bugger. Thanks.

Won't be whole process again. Will count as a 'change of product' where your fixed term, rate, repayment will change so lender will need to repeat your affordability check (but they will have your evidences & credit check & other checks done previously). So I think it might add 7-10 days more to the process but well worth it!

Oh god, what to do, what to do. I want to change term from five years to two …. I think. DH not so keen. Aargh I hate mortgages.

Hmmm, current wisdom suggests five years is a better idea (obviously depends on your circumstances).
