Roofer recommendations in SE London?

We are having a really hard time finding a roofer to even come and quote for a replacement flat roof (quite large 30sq m). Has anyone had this done in SE London and can recommend a roofer?

I just spoke to three companies from Which Trusted Traders, two were too busy and one (based in SW London) is so busy in his local area that no longer covers SE London. We have one quote from a company who did other work on our main roof but need something to compare to.

On that note, if you've had this done recently, how much was your new asphalt flat roof in London?

I had a nightmare trying to get roofers even to quote for a replacement flat roof earlier in the year in SE London - our flat roof is about half the size of yours (16 sqm) and we had quotes for a replacement as follows:

  • £1,150 plus VAT - but never bothered to get back in touch when we asked them to do the work.
  • £2,100 incl. VAT
  • £2,412 incl. VAT

In the end we got a local guy who fixed the problem without needing to replace the whole flat roof for £400, which would make me wary about any of the companies who quoted for a replacement when I asked each of them if it could be fixed without the whole roof being done.

We used Danny Catchesides Ltd and would recommend them. The work cost about 3k + VAT but it was a smaller roof (~15 sq m) and we also had a large skylight fitted while it was being done. We went down the route of getting a small, cash in hand company to fix it first without replacing the whole roof and wish we hadn't - cost us £600 and had to get it all redone anyway!

Just contacted Danny Catchesides Ltd and the receptionist wasn't sure if they do domestic roofing work? I assume yours was a domestic project, TremoloGreen?

Whereabouts in SE London are you?
I' m having similar problems getting anyone to come to quote to replace some missing roof tiles. Everyone I call is either too busy or doesn't get back to me. I'm guessing that this is a really busy time for roofers as loads of properties in my local area have scaffolding up.

I have details of a company my elderly neighbour uses and highly recommended ( who was recommended to her by someone else in my road). They are in Sevenoaks in Kent but website says they cover all the South East. I am on border of Kent/SE London and they came to me but unsure how far into London they would travel.

Yep, definitely domestic!

We are SE13.

I can recommend the company we have our one quote from, they fixed our main roof and were very good but their flat roof quote is over £6.5k + vat!

Try Frazer Roofing or Premier Roofing
(Prior to starting my mat leave, I managed the classified ad section of the guide magazine, a local mag that covers SE London and they both advertised with me, I also live in SE London!)

Have you tried comparing rates online? If you haven’t, I highly suggest that you do so. With so many roofing companies on the Internet today, finding the best deal out there by comparing rates is always a good idea. Maybe you can also try getting recommendations from your relatives or friends? When we were refurbishing our house, we hired one of the roofing contractors South East London companies that my sister knows. This is very advisable especially when getting referrals from people who have experienced or recently hired roofing professionals. Hope this helps!
