Is this quote high for flooring?

We've been quoted £460 to lay laminate flooring in 3 smallish bedrooms (plus £45 to remove existing carpets/laminate) and £285 to lay vinyl in 2 small bathrooms plus a tiny downstairs loo.

This doesn't include the flooring itself which we will have to buy.

Does this sound like too much? I wasn't expecting that much...

153 quid per bedroom - does it include new skirting boards and skip costs?
without knowing the size of your bedroom, it sounds about right for London, I think. But a bit high without skip/skirting boards. Our laminate builder was £8.5 per sq m incl VAT for purely laying laminate (not laying new skirting boards), other quotes I had were higher.

I'd recommend to get more quotes.

Thanks - it doesn't include new skirtings but does include disposing of the rubbish. Two of the rooms are both 4.4 x 3m max (but L shaped so smaller) and one is 3.5 x 2.2m, so it's about 34 sq m in total. That sounds a lot higher than your quote!

My builder said he'd charge me £98 for the skip on top (no idea what his calculations were based on) but we hired skip on our own anyway for our extensive home renovation stuff.

Yes, it's a lot of money anyway even for London, I'd recommend to shop around, but I did get £10-11 per sq m quotes from East-European workers too (they did include laying new skirting though)

We've just been quoted £260 for vinyl flooring, including laying hardboard underneath, for one smallish kitchen - Manchester area.
