We are viewing a house on Wednesday and will be putting an offer in. We have viewed the house before so we know we like it (I was optimistic that ours would be offered on quickly).

We have seen mould on the wall below the window in one of the bedrooms and again in the top right hand corner of that room. The landlord claimed that its because the tenant doesnt use the heating much to save money and he doesnt open the window.......

We will have a full homebuyers survey done but we are keen to find out what is really causing this damp. I don't know what sort of company I should be googling for though. Can anyone help pkease?

I have just used an independent damp specialist to find out the cause of our damp as I have various horror stories of damp companies over exaggerating problems and then 'fixing' them at huge expense. If you google independent damp surveyors you will find Independent Specialist Surveyors, they sent a very knowledgable chap called Keith Gardiner who spent an hour or so examining the house then gave us a very detailed report. It cost £190 which although it is a lot he gave excellent advice about exactly what needed fixing and it's very helpful to be able to give contractors specific details. If you google him too he has good reviews. I'm always really worried about being taken for a mug with building stuff so I was happy to pay.
