Where's a good place to look for duvet covers/inspiration for a colour scheme in an 8 & 6yo's bedroom? We're starting from scratch, so not tied to a particular colour scheme. TYIA.

I found myself looking through all the sales books like Next home and George home magazine and M&S website Houzz and Pinterest just to see pictures of girls rooms to see how they have been put together. Ended up letting Dd have choices of colours and I've gone from there. She picked Duck egg blue and pale pink. I have bought duvet covers with both of those those colours in and we'll paint the walls and buy a new blind this summer.

I've always found Laura Ashley bedding to be good quality and not too girly. There's a sale on now.

PastaBow · 28/07/2014 09:38

YY to Laura Ashley. I also like John Lewis.

ConcreteElephant · 28/07/2014 13:02

John Lewis, GLTC, Aspace, Dunelm, Ikea - all have nice ranges.

We've been looking recently for DS who wants pirates, no, tractors, no, dinosaurs, no, boats, no, rockets, no, stripes like DD... 2 year olds are indecisive apparently ;)

BHS home have bright cheerful beding. We have butterflies happily double and single butterflies used by me and both teen DDs, they are certainly 8y compatible.

Bought a lovely songbird bedding set in the sale from Laura Ashley but it's an absolute bastard to iron!!

TheStorySoFar · 31/07/2014 19:01

Hmmm I'm looking at the Songbird one, but I don't 'do' ironing! Is it overall a reddy colour rather than a pinky one? My girls like it, but aren't massive pink fans ATM. I could get fabric & a roll of paper though & no more looking/matching nonsense.

For fabrics try these brands:

Prestigious Textiles - the 'butterfly gardens' range

Harlequin - they do a couple of kids ranges
