Help.... Smeg appliances..... Are they any good?

We are about to order a new kitchen with two Smeg built in ovens, Smeg microwave and Smeg gas hob. I was all set to go when we were told by an I dependant retailer to avoid Smeg! We have been trying to find a decent quantity of product reviews to no avail. Please does anyone have any knowledge of these? Classic or Linea range preferably? We really need to order the kitchen ASAP and will depend on appliances.

We had a Smeg range cooker in our previous house and although it looked the business, its performance was very poor. I won't rush to buy Smeg appliances when we re-do our kitchen next year.

I had a smeg dishwasher once and it was rubbish.

Stay away from Smeg and buy Bosch/Neff/Siemens or Miele if you can afford it. You wont regret it.

I am surprised that there is still a kitchen retailer out there that recommends Smeg. Its absolute rubbish.

I found the fan heating element in our (bought with the house Smeg) oven went quite quickly. Get one or two from eSpares so you aren't fucked at Christmas or before a dinner party (as being when they invariably go). You will have top and bottom heating rings to use still so not a complete disaster, but fan is what you know isn't it?

Think our dishwasher in that house was Siemans - it was brilliant. Don't really know how you could go wrong with a hob TBH. It's just metal and flame. Oh actually, I suppose the lighting mechanism. Now I think of it, I think that one WAS a bit temperamental complete U-turn.

Had a smeg fridge freezer once. Beautiful thing. Absolute piece of crap.

I had a freestanding smeg cooker - beautiful thing and a dream to cook on. Until the oven broke. Apparently they are notorious for it.

I worked for a kitchen retailer until recently

In terms of complaints vs volume of sale then smeg was definitely the worst (as in we hardly sold any but got loads of complaints)

Personally I would go with neff every time

Nooooo wouldn't touch them with a barge pole not after my smeg dishwasher caught on fire & nearly took my kitchen with it. Smeg were not helpful - wrote it off as a 1 off bad luck until my dad's one did the same within 6mths of mine.
300 miles apart, both fitted & used correctly
That's not a co-incidence that's a faulty product - again Smeg not interested still claiming they are 1 off incidences to do with fitting/use.
I am very happy with my neff/Bosch appliances & would def recommend my Miele dishwasher despite the £££ price tag.
