Extra deep kitchen worktops

I am having a new kitchen fitted but I am trying to source a 700mm deep solid worktop.

I can't afford granite but had originally thought about corian. I decided against it because I didn't like the feel of it.
I had opted for a solid surface (encore) but have to rethink as I can't get it 700mm deep.

Any suggestions? It needs to be solid as I've got my heart set on a belfast sink.

Not sure why you have ruled out granite on grounds of cost if you can afford Coruan. We looked into worktops last year and found that Corian was slightly more expensive than granite. In the end, we went with granite which we sourced from a local stonemason. One of our worktops is 125cms deep as it goes over the island which has back-to-back units.

If it's a solid surfacecsurelynit can be any depth (within reason)?

I'm trying to avoid spending thousands having something bespoke.

I realise it might be impossible. A quartz worktop is so much cheaper that it seems a waste to go for anything else.

I'm not totally averse to wood other than I like the cold feel of stone. This was actually the reason we discounted corian as it is warm to touch therefore feels plasticy.

Encore (or any other product from this family of product) with Belfast sink is a BAD idea. Your worktop needs to overhang the belfast sink which in the case of Encore means you are exposing the chipboard substrate to water ingress. It will only be a matter of time before the worktop is shot.

About the only options that work with Belfast sinks are Granite/Quartz, Wood or Mistral type solid materials.

After much discussion and googling we've decided to go for wood.

I was concerned about too much wood as the floor is oak too but it is the best option for us I think.

By now your kitchen will hopefully be built, and I would love to know how you are getting on with your extra deep wooden worktops, because I have been thinking of doing the same. Undermounted sink and all.
I hope you see this, as it is ages since the last post on this thread.
