Anyone moved house and hated it?

Moved to a much bigger house in what was supposedly a nicer location- last nov. I don't like it :(
The house itself is fine a doer upper which is almost done. Since the first week I felt unsettled. I moved from what people though was a rough area (actually never had any probs and neighbours were lovely) to a nice area which people aren't so nice.
Ndn caused no end of probs over Xmas leaving nasty notes on our visitors cars about parking, her dog barks continuously. Other neighbours nearby seem problematic last night they was some sort of argument in the street at 11.30 slanging match for a while.
I moved her for a better life for my dd nicer house in a nicer location in reality it's not that at all :( I'm seriously thinking about moving again should I give it longer - has anyone else moved and been disapointed l?!

Not experienced but have a lot of sympathy. The neighbours are the big unknown in any house move. Terrified me each time but we've pretty much been ok. Am now contemplating yet another move and have the fear again.

You can't judge an area by its looks or cost. A couple of pedantic or thoughtless neighbours can make you really miserable.

Bit of a useless post but lots sympathy. I take it you bought the house? Has it risen in value due to the work you've done enough to mitigate the costs of moving again? How old is your DD?

Thank you- its sounds so pathetic but the situation with the neighbours described plus others generally being unwelcoming has made me feel sad I really appreciate now how lucky we were before.
My dd is 18 months I have a few baby friends and other friends but no one else in this village so was hoping to meet some people which hasn't happened either- we are the youngest family in the street apart from the fighting family and don't think I'll be chatting with them anytime soon.
Yes after costs we've propably added another 20k-30k so would more than cover moving costs.
But on paper this house makes sense- supposedly nice area, good school, good local amenities, bargain house- but I just feel uncomfortable and after last night on edge :( my oh thinks I'm overreacting he would stay here but equally given the money we've added to house he's open to moving.

I have moved house in the past several times and never settled.

The house im in now is great for us. All houses i have lived in are private rented so i havent been tied to the house if i wanted to move.

In 8 months you should of settled in by now. Id give it 12 months and if you are still not settled then i dont think you ever will settle there.

Give it more time and dont let your neighbors get to you!

Change is hard, especially when you werent unhappy with the place you were leaving. Hang in there.

Yes to a chocolate box type village property.

Seemed idyllic and quaint at first sight. Unfortunately that masked a dark underbelly.

It was close to a village green, where the local, bored kids congregated. Drinking, smoking, shouting expletives. Police said they couldn't do anything without a dispersal order from the court!

Wheel trims were nicked off our car. Other petty crime going on.

Ended up renting it out, then selling it a couple of years later.

Hi not this move- I love it here.

But in our last house, which was also a doer-upper, I wouldn't say I hated it, but always thought it was a bit of a mistake buy.
It never really felt done no matter what we did.
Also the neighbour on one side was a fascist, we kept under the radar, but the way he was with our other neighbours wasn't pleasant.
The other neighbours were nice enough, but here we feel like we fit in better iyswim.
Still we lived there for quite a few years, until we saw this for sale and this more than makes up for it.
We moved here around the same time as you and feel 100% settled.

Yip, living this right now Been here for coming up 5 years. I cannot wait to leave but we are still not finished renovating and do not want to sell at a loss so are taking 1 year at a time but it is hard, if i could pick up my house and move it i would. We are rural and moved from the city and just do not fit in and the neighbours have no interesting in speaking to us no matter how friendly or involved with community we are. I have given up and look forward to leaving when the time is financially right.

Yes last year. I decided to downsize and get rid of my mortgage. This meant moving to a cheaper area. House had a lot of hidden problems not picked up on the survey, black mould, a lot more damp than suggested, etc, which I had rectified over the summer. I moved into the house in June 2013 and put it up for sale in November that year and sold and moved out first week of March 2014. I am now back in the town I moved from and managed to find a house I love.

Financially I did lose out on the cost of the move, legal fees, estate agent, etc. but it was worth the hassle as I am now settled.

Still can't quite believe it all happened but I just knew I would never be happy there.
