Please help me find open shelves for my new kitchen

The kitchen is cream high gloss with concealed handles. We are not after an uber sleek look, so we are toning it down with patterned wallpaper and a tiled splashback (both tasteful, before you start!) Smile

We want to have some open shelving in the space between a window and the chimney breast - it is only about a metre wide and will need three shelves, probably. I don't want them high gloss cream like the rest of the kitchen, but perhaps a complementary colour/material. I thought metal, maybe, but can't find any I like, any suggestion? Glass would blend it well, but I don't like the look and the dust shows too much. Any ideas?

I saw some nice metal shelves in the kitchen department of ikea.

Aluminium/stainless steel?
Frosted glass (won't show the dust)
Wire shelves might look ok.

White might look ok even though you have cream units. I mix white and cream happily.

What floor do you have? If it's wood then you could have wood shelves.

How old is the house.
What do you want to put on the shelves? Do they need to be deep

Thanks! ThatWasNice, our house is very early Edwardian. I want to put some cookery books in the top shelf and jars + small pictures or plants in the other two. Frosted glass might be an option.

Will also look at the Antropologie shelves. As for the Ikea ones, do you mean the ones with metal bars in? I am not so mad about those because of the gaps between the bars - I want to put some lighting under the lower shelf.

These are the Ikea ones.

I think the ikea ones below are nice. Do you have brushed steel elsewhere. I think you could also just have plain wood or plain white. The interest will be in what you put on the shelves rather than the shelves themselves. It might be useful to have 'ends' on the shelves if you are going to use them as bookshelves.

Something like in this picture.

Ikea also do these shelves which could fit the bill. We have some of these between the worktops and the wall cabinets to keep the counter space clear.
