Alternatives to cabin hooks for holding back external doors?

Hello all. We've recently put a gorgeous set of bifold doors in, and the left door opens out on its own. It needs something to stop it banging in the wind and I found a Hafele magnetic door stop which comes up from the paving and clicks into a magnet on the door. Sadly, it's not robust enough to hold a heavy door, and as I watch, it's slowly making its way loose from the step. Looks good though Hmm.

Surely there must be a stylish alternative to an old fashioned cabin hook? I'm not sure it would work anyway due to the distance between the side of the house and the door. The door company (ODC using solarlux doors) say no, they don't have anything though apparently lots of customers ask for something.....Angry

Despite extensive ninja googling I've come up with a big fat zero. If anyone would know, mumsnetters would know!

Hoping someone can come up with a cunning plan.

some doors have flush bolts which go into the floor or sill. You might be able to have a floor socket for the bolt in the position you wantto hold it open.

Cabin hooks are great, and are available in a variety of lengths.

Floor weight to hold it shut at the bottom?

Easy! Smile. Magnetic catches like these. I have similar ones and they work brilliantly.

Ops didn't see that you had tried magnetic door stops already. I think the ones you have tried can't have been strong enough. Mine work just fine and I have five set of big bifold doors. I have ones that look like the one in the picture.

ThatWasNice, they would be perfect! Only my left hand door doesn't go back far enough - only to a 45 degree angle sadly. Would you mind though, posting a link as to where you got these so that I can browse the site to see if they have anything else that might work? Thanks so much :) Thanks

THIS WAS THE SITE for the door mounted retainer.

What about a floor mounted magnetic retainer LIKE THIS
It's expensive though. Maybe there is a cheaper version.

Yes that looks possible. I currently have this one: www.sdslondon.co.uk/new-products/magnetic-door-holder-floorwall-83-mm.html?gclid=CJzG3Mza3r8CFQkFwwodTbAAmA

which has pretty much been knocked over....

However, that one looks more solid. Thank you for your help!

No problem. Smile. I hope it works.
