Cost of laying laminate

We've been quoted £520 to lay Quick Step laminate and skirtings in two rooms and the entrance hall. Our rooms are roughly 3.5m by 3.8ish and the hall is about 1m by 3 so not huge. The same person is supplying the laminate. Does this sound reasonable or do I need to get other quotes? I'm in London.

Is it just for labour? It does sound high. Most quotes I got for one room of similar size as yours was around £120 labour only.
(provided if flooring is bare and ready to be laid on, no preparation beforehand)

But if the costs do include new skirting boards, laminate and underlay, it sound cheap.
I've had £650 (incl everything) quoted by local flooring shop (in posh area) for just one room! (I was interested in Quickstep too)

Yes sorry to be confusing, it's labour only. I thought it sounded expensive but I really didn't know. Perhaps I'll get another quote then, thanks!

just please check if the costs do include ripping out the carpet/old flooring/ skip costs, new skirting boards (Quickstep do require moving the skirting boards up if you originally have carpet/haven't had laminate before)....

I had 120-140 (incl VAT) per room - it was pure labour without anything else on top, so expect to pay extra for waste disposal and so on...

We went with a local guy: £120 for our lounge/diner, £95 per bedroom (with lots of nooks and crannies). That included putting new skirting boards as well.

But we had to supply materials and the rooms had to be ready for the laminate to be put down (ie with underlay down etc). We live in East Anglia. I hope this helps you to compare but I find your quote rather high...

Professional laminate fitter here, I'd price that labour only at £180 with doing skirting boards. I'm notanywhere near London but £520 is ridiculus.

I'd also consider getting your Quick-Step elsewhere too, if he's ripping you on labour, he's probably ripping you on materials too!

It's not really that hard to lay yanno. Give it a shot and save yourself some coin.

We got another quote which was even dearer! Not sure what to do. I know it's not that hard to lay, husband has done it before but we simply don't have time at the minute, add a toddler into the mix and it's worth it to pay someone else, just not quite that much!

Bluevanman that's interesting - the second company said two days work! I found that hard to believe myself!

At a push it could run into the next day if you have a lot of furniture to move or if problems with the walls make the skirting board tricky.
How are they pricing? Is it per square meter or day rate?
