How hard is it to make a picnic table?

And what would I need material and equipment wise? What wood is best?

I'm wanting to make a picnic table that seats up to 12 people for our breakfast room. How difficult is it to make? And do know how to make one? Or link me. We don't really have a time frame so that's not an issue.

Off topic; are there any types of highchairs that can go on a picnic table?

Thanks in advance!

Kinda like these table ideas...

You could use an ordinary jack saw if you don't have a circular saw. No need to rebate the bearers if you use 2 bolts. These can be bought from any builder's merchants and are called coach bolts. Don't forget to use the washers too as these give extra torque and stop them unwinding.

Thanks. My FiL has a circular saw I can borrow. I'll watch that video when I get home. Thank you.

You really need pressure treated timber, from a proper builders merchants and not planed pine from B and Q and the like. Decking is ideal, find some going cheap ( usually 'cause it's an odd size or end of line. )Customize sizing to suit your requirements. If the table is very long you'll need extra bearers to prevent the table sagging.

Thanks for the tip on wood. I'll ask around our area for merchant recommendations. I'll handy with tools and woodwork so I'm hoping DH & I can have a proper good go at it!
