too much wood?

bear with me, sorry

currently have bamboo flooring in the hall leading to black tiles in kitchen with maple effect kitchen doors. need to replace flooring following kitchen/diner extension but have to keep and reuse kitchen units.

really love the bamboo, its bombproof, but the same shade bamboo won't go with the kitchen units.

besides would it be too much to have bamboo floor and maple effect doors. there is no plinth, just chrome legs.

am getting myself in a pickle . thank you Smile

hmm honestly I do think two shades of wood so close to each other could look odd.... what about bamboo flooring but in black, or in whitewash/lime wash finish?

they do black now? oooh
off to search....

Could you paint the kitchen cabinet doors?

sacbina · 19/07/2014 22:56

not sure they're paintable, its just a maple effect

You probably could paint the doors, but it takes some serious effort to get them to look good and last well: clean, sand, clean, prime with specialist primer for kitchen cupboards, paint, sand and clean between coats. Might be worth it if you're set on the flooring - I agree with mini that two mismatched woods could look off.

I think the maple effect will look more 'fake' if you put it next to real wood.
Could you do a combination of wood and tiles? Its a bit tricky to get right but it can look well.

painting not really an option, 2 pre schoolers and no time to myself. reusing existing kitchen doors as ds is just going to trash anything nice. I do like existing black tiles, esp with ufh, so may have to be tiles again.

the black bamboo looked a bit odd, but have ordered sample

it was just that the view when you open the front door is bamboo floor straight into kitchen. so would have been nice to have same flooring throughout.

obv not meant to be Angry
