Non Black induction hob

I was wondering why all induction hobs seem to be black, and then I stumbled across a couple of makes and models in grey/silver or white. I'm after that paler look to go with white quartz work tops and a grey painted shaker kitchen.

Does anyone have one and can give me the product details and an honest review? I want the look but it has to be reliable and non annoying to use too!

I've been looking at these. My kitchen supplier put me off, he thinks they will scratch and are a bit faddy.
He pointed out that my ovens (underneath the hob) are black so will match.
I'm having white quartz and grey units too. Great choice.

That's interesting, do you know why he'd said it might scratch more? I assume they're made of glass whether black or grey/white. If my experience of cars is anything to go by the black would show the scratches more!

I'm not put off yet, I was looking at the Siemens 1Q700 in grey/silver. Anyone have it? Or have a view?

I'm going for Siemens too. I've got one in my existing kitchen & love it.
The other thing he said was to go for a bevelled edge or have a stainless steel rim. Apparently the ones that fit flush into the worktop rarely fit that well because the glass expands or was it shrinks? with heat and it's easy to get bits of food stuck down the sides.

Ahh great tip! Im clumsy too so would probably protect the edge from chips :)

Which model Siemens are you going for out of interest? I've only just started my research. I found a lovely De Dietrich white hob, but I've read shocking things about their aftercare so its put me off buying that brand.

I've gone for the IQ300 with half flexi and 2 rings. Mostly due to budget. My existing one (10 years) is 4 rings and suits me so I'm compromising.

Looks like that model, has 4 cooking zones but the one I'm looking at only 3 even though its bigger which is weird.

The silver ones look a bit tired in a few years which black ones dont. Stick with black. If no one does them in any colour but black there is probably a very good reason for it.

Yeah I tend to agree, but that's why I don't like the black ones, they look dated to me now. What about white?

This thread is a few weeks too late for me! I've already ordered a black one. I would have loved a lighter coloured one but didnt know there was such a think. I didnt see any on display anywhere.

Grey unit with light quartz (Silestone Lagoon) here too. The black will stand out a lot against the quartz.

I do however think we're used to seeing black ones, it therefore probably wont stand out. We've also got some other dark features in the room so I'm wondering if it might tie in to go for black.

Its so strange there are not bright colours or more in white/silver available. Must be a reason, maybe it is the scratching issue.

I have a grey Siemens, now 7 years old.
How it has scratched I don't know but it has one big scratch and a few fine ones. It is also beginning to stain a little - this tends to happen if I have had it on very high and the worst of it cleans off if I clean it immediately. I didn't want a black blob on my work surface. When it comes to replacing it I will look again at grey - there may even be other colours by then - I shall live in hope!
